Free educational and entertaining workshops on the occasion of Valentine's Day and Valentine's Week

At Veliki Tabor Castle, we have prepared suitable educational and entertaining workshops on the occasion of Valentine's Day and Valentine's Week! This Saturday and Sunday, February 18th and 19th, visitors will be able to participate in two workshops that will be held on both days from 11 am to 3 pm.

The first workshop will be dedicated to keys. From their invention to the present day, they have been used to unlock and lock doors, but they have also protected valuables in chests, cabinets and drawers, and such keys are an integral part of our museum holdings. In addition, the key has always been associated with love as a symbol of opening, i.e. unlocking the heart. Therefore, visitors of all ages, with the help of workshop leader Andrea Brlobuš, will master the making of clay keys, which they will then be able to take home.

The second workshop will be dedicated to a famous love story! Of course, it is an oral tradition about the unhappy love of the lower noblewoman Veronika Desinićka and the nobleman Frederick II. Celjsko, which was entered into the Register of Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Croatia as an intangible cultural asset in 2014. In the first part of the workshop, participants will be introduced to the legend, as well as its historical background, by workshop leader Renata Dečman, who will also tell the attendees a lesser-known story about how Veronika defended Veliki Tabor from the invasion of the Turkish army. In the second part of the workshop, visitors will test their acquired knowledge by solving quizzes and worksheets that will consist of various tasks, questions, crosswords, labyrinths and eight-way puzzles.

The workshops are free, and admission to the Museum is charged according to the regular price list.
