Veliki Tabor Castle wins Silver Plaque at the International Congress of Historic Cities

Veliki Tabor Castle

The 11th International Congress of Historic Towns was held in Solin from 25 to 28 March, organized by the Solin Tourist Board and the City of Solin, and in partnership with the Phoenician Route – Cultural Route of the Council of Europe. The theme of the congress was the preservation and interpretation of historical attractions and sites in historic towns throughout Croatia and abroad. The historical periods covered by the congress range from prehistory to the Roman era and the Middle Ages.

As part of the congress, the international Plautilla cultural and tourism awards were awarded, which are awarded for the quality and management of historic towns, in the domain of interpretation and protection of cultural heritage and promotion and distribution of cultural and tourism products. The Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje – Veliki Tabor Castle was awarded a silver plaque for the cultural and tourism product The Legend of Veronica of Desinić. It was the Ministry of Culture and Media that recognized the importance of oral tradition for the northwestern region and Croatian national identity in 2014, thus determining that the tradition of Veronica has the status of an intangible cultural asset and proudly preserves its place in the Register of Cultural Assets of the Republic of Croatia. The Silver Plautilla in Solin was received by the head of the Veliki Tabor Castle, Paul Lekaj.
