Festival of Science at the Krapina Neanderthal Museum
In the program of the "Festival of Science", an event that has been organized by the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum for many years, the Krapina Neanderthal Museum was also included this time.
The theme of this year's Festival is "Intelligence", and on the occasion of marking the 200th anniversary of the first discovery of dinosaur fossil remains, the Krapina Neanderthal Museum organized a workshop for children called "200 years of dinosaur research". Through play, research and creative expression, the young participants learned many interesting facts about these fascinating reptiles, and in addition to already known species such as Tyrannosaurus rex and Stegosaurus, they also met other unusual dinosaurs such as the Parasaurolophus species. After digging in the sand and stacking the skeleton, the children made a dinosaur body out of plasticine and fitted it into a diorama they made themselves using different materials. The participants had the opportunity to study replicas of dinosaur claws and teeth, and they also visited Jane - the skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex cub in the Museum's permanent exhibition. The program was designed and led by senior curator pedagogue Lorka Lončar Uvodić with the help of her associate, curator pedagogue Mirjana Biljan.
