Ice Age Europe Week at Hušnjakovo

Krapina Neanderthal Museum

The Krapina Neanderthal Museum is one of about a dozen members of the international Ice Age Europe network, which is celebrating its tenth birthday this year! On this occasion, interesting events are being organized throughout this week at the sites brought together by this network, which deal with the theme of the Ice Age and the Paleolithic, as part of the Ice Age Europe Week program.

The Krapina Neanderthal Museum has been an extremely active member of Ice Age Europe since the very beginning, which is why a small group of Krapina preschoolers, the Sunshines from the Gustav Krklec Kindergarten, visited Hušnjakovo today. The children and their educators participated in the Come to Hušaonica! Let's read a story about the Ice Age! program, as part of which the children were read the story by Mladen Kopjar Plamenko in the Hunt for the Mammoth. In an inspiring setting, a scene that imitates a cave, museum pedagogue Lorka Lončar Uvodić read the story to the children, and then they talked about the life of people in the Ice Age. The young participants of the program also learned how people lit fires in prehistoric times and studied some replicas of fossil bones of Ice Age mammals.

On Saturday, every hour on the hour, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., free expert tours were organized for the numerous visitors of the Museum.
