IN MEMORIAM Siniša Laginja (1961 – 2023)

Our dear colleague and friend Siniša Laginja passed away at the age of 62.

The terrible news saddened everyone who knew him, and especially those of us who worked with Siniša at the Krapina Neanderthal Museum. His passing leaves a great void, because since 1996, when he started working as a museum technician at the former Museum of Evolution, Siniša has left an indelible mark on Hušnjakovo throughout his many years of work as a hard worker and a good colleague who was loved and appreciated by everyone. He participated in the realization of around 80 exhibitions, both at the Museum of Evolution and the Krapina Neanderthal Museum, as well as at the Krapina City Gallery, and in recent years he has traveled frequently, setting up a traveling exhibition of the Krapina Museum in other cities in Croatia. Given the rich experience he gained in museum work, no museum project or program could have been implemented without Siniša and his always useful advice, among which his cooperation in the technical implementation of the permanent exhibition of the Krapina Neanderthal Museum stands out. In addition to exhibitions, for the installation of which he always found the most creative and practical solutions, he also participated in the design and implementation of numerous educational programs and workshops. He demonstrated his artistic skills by making multiple award-winning Krapina souvenirs, and he selflessly passed on his knowledge of clay modeling and making of ceramic objects to younger colleagues and a large audience during educational workshops. We could always count on Siniša's help in museum work, and he performed every job precisely, without fuss, with an ever-present sense of humor.
