Sculpture colony in Donja Stubica

Antun Augustinčić Gallery

From June 1 to 3, 2023, in Donja Stubica, in the Feller Family Park, a sculpture colony will be held on the occasion of the Day of the City of Donja Stubica, bringing together sculptors from Zagreb.

These are artists of the younger generation: Alana Kajfež, Adrian Marok, Mirna Savić and Petar Ćujo. The initiator of the sculpture colony is museum pedagogue Petra Šoltić. The organization of the colony aims to bring sculpture closer to citizens and promote young sculptors.

As part of the sculpture colony, a stonemasonry workshop for making stone sculptures is also being organized, led by museum pedagogue Petra Šoltić with the artists. The workshops will be held on June 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Feller Family Park, and the workshop is free for all citizens.

The Antun Augustinčić Gallery supports the sculpture colony with a donation of Brač stone. Some of the artists have already exhibited at the Antun Augustinčić Gallery as part of the joint program of the Academy of Fine Arts and the Antun Augustinčić Gallery 3 in 1, including Petar Ćujo, Adrian Marok and Alana Kajfež.

Alana Kajfež (Zagreb, 1990) lives and works as a sculptor in Zagreb, but spent her childhood in Zagorje. In 2014, she graduated in sculpture in the class of Prof. Peruško Bogdanić. She has exhibited at numerous group and solo exhibitions (Rovinj, Zagreb, Rijeka, Vinkovci, Lovinac, Hvar, Jastrebarsko, Zadar, Novi Sad, Klanjec). She is the author of public monuments in Vrsar (Dream of Corals, 2011), Zagreb (Jack White, 2014), Lovinac (Bear Dance, 2016) and Brisnica near Posedarje (X. Station of the Cross, 2016). In the last few years, she has found inspiration in glass fusion and has been making glass torsos of her close friends. In 2022, she is working on the creative project Support is everything, a campaign for the Adidas brand.

Adrian Marok (Zagreb, 1995) worked as a demonstrator at the Glass Techniques and Art course while studying at the Academy of Fine Arts. In the same year, he graduated in the class of Prof. Dalibor Stošić and received his Master of Sculpture degree. He installed two sculptures in public spaces: in Vrsar (Tić, 2016) and the Old Town of Ostrošac in Cazin (Nora, 2019). He had solo exhibitions in Zagreb (Jozo Kljaković Memorial Collection, 2019) and Klanjec (Antun Augustinčić Gallery, 2020). He participated in art fairs and won first place for the best work (Art Fair in Zagreb, 2020).

Mirna Savić (Zagreb, 1993) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2018 and opened her first solo exhibition at the POUVG. He works as a set designer for the City Theatre Scena Gorica in the plays: Diary of a Facebook Idiot, Sarah's Thread and Alarm in the Plastic Empire. In addition to sculpting and painting, he is engaged in pottery and creates illustrations for picture books and comics.

Petar Ćujo (Zagreb, 1991) chose to work in stone while still studying at the Academy of Fine Arts. He has won several student and professional awards for the realization of public sculpture projects, and is the winner of the Rector's Award for group work Croatian Inventions. In addition to the solo and group exhibitions he has held, his resume is also filled with several sculptures made and installed in public spaces. He belongs to the younger generation of Croatian artists, whose work is primarily related to classical sculptural forms and techniques of stone and bronze sculpture.

The sculpture colony was realized with the support of the City of Donja Stubica, the Antun Augustinčić Gallery, the STUB – KLUB Multimedia Center, and the Tourist Boards of the Donja Stubica and Gornja Stubica areas.
