International symposium ”Handicrafts Know-How Transmission”
An international symposium entitled Handicrafts Know-How Transmission was held in Ljubljana from 17 to 19 March.
The co-organizers of the symposium are the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the University of Ljubljana, the Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage and the UNESCO Committee for Interpretation and Education for the Promotion of Integrated Approaches to Heritage, the Faculty of Humanities, the University of Primorska, the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sports, and the Department of Arts and Crafts of the Chamber of Crafts and Entrepreneurship of Slovenia.
At the symposium, the curator of the "Old Village" Museum in Kumrovec, Tihana Kušenić, gave a presentation entitled Preservation of Cultural Heritage in the Kumrovec Ethno Village.
In addition to representatives of the aforementioned institutions, experts in the field of protection and preservation of cultural heritage from across Europe also participated: from Belgium, France, Austria, Germany, Hungary, and colleague Sanja Lončar from the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb.
On the second day of the conference, participants were introduced to the work on preserving and popularizing dry stone walling in the Škocjan Park, which is a segment of intangible heritage and is listed on the UNESCO List of Intangible World Heritage Sites, followed by a tour of Škofja Loka with representatives of the Association of Historic Towns of Slovenia.
