Jurica Sabol, head of the Krapina Neanderthal Museum, which has been proudly carrying the European Heritage Label for 9 years, participated in the ceremonial awarding of the new seven Labels in Antwerp (Belgium) from April 17 to 19, 2024. He participated in panel discussions, presentations and lectures together with representatives of other localities that are holders of this prestigious label, including the Vučedol Culture Museum. A total of 230 representatives from different sectors of cultural heritage, the European Commission and the European Parliament were present at the awarding ceremony.

The EHL initiative is financed by the European Union, and its goal is to recognize localities, traditions and cultures that have a symbolic European value and are of great importance for the history and culture of Europe, thereby contributing to the strengthening of common belonging to the European Union.

The Vučedol Culture Museum and the Krapina Neanderthal Museum are the only two museums with localities in the Republic of Croatia that hold this prestigious label, and whose coordination takes place under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, led by the national coordinator for EHL, Mrs. Anuška Deranja-Crnokić.
