When announcing the results of visits to Croatian museums, the Museum Documentation Center called 2023 the year of museums. The Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje certainly contributed to the 27% increase in attendance, which with 312,000 visits is the third most visited museum institution in Croatia, right after the Dubrovnik Museums and the Archaeological Museum of Istria, which took first place.

The five organizational units that make up the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje, namely Veliki Tabor Castle in Desinić, Antun Augustinčić Gallery in Klanjec, Krapina Neanderthal Museum in Krapina, Peasants' Revolt Museum in Gornja Stubica and "Old Village" Museum in Kumrovec, with good numerical results, can also be proud of the quality of realized museum programs, especially those intended for children and young people. According to statistics, the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje lead the way in Croatia in terms of the number of children and young people who visited them, totaling 79,000, who also participated in numerous educational programs. In addition to a large offer of various educational workshops and the implementation of special programs in each museum, the five organizational units of MHZ joined forces for the second time last year in the successful program "On Horseback to Museums".

The museums were also active in inter-museum cooperation, so there were numerous guest appearances such as the exhibitions in 'Aquatika' in Karlovac, the Vučedol Culture Museum and the Archaeological Museum in Zadar.

In addition to the various events and manifestations that attracted numerous visitors, the Museums also excelled in holding various activities for the local community, and last year was also an anniversary year at the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje, as various commemorative programs marked the 450th anniversary of the Peasants' Revolt, the 30th anniversary of the beginning of the work of the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje, the 50th anniversary of the Peasants' Revolt Museum and the 70th anniversary of the work of the "Old Village" Museum.
