Night of Fortresses in Veliki Tabor Castle
Veliki Tabor Castle was one of the many localities where the cultural and tourist event Night of Fortresses was held this Friday evening.
The event began at 6 p.m. with an expert lecture "The most significant forts of Hrvatsko Zagorje in the period from the 13th to the 16th century" held by museum advisor Nadica Jagarčec. This was followed by an educational and entertaining workshop "Let's step among the nobility" dedicated to coat of arms, i.e. heraldry. Author and workshop leader Paul Lekaj introduced the participants to this auxiliary historical science that studies coats of arms, and then the participants made shields with their own coat of arms, using their creativity and imagination. The central part of the event was the theatrical play "Black Nights" performed by actors Denis Bosak and Vini Jurčić - Boss Theater. This play is inspired by the most famous Taborgrad legend, the oral tradition about Veronika Desinićka, and thematizes the dialogue between Veronika and her executioner - the blacksmith. At the end of the event, visitors were introduced to museum objects, legends and stories under organized costumed professional guidance through museum exhibitions.
The head of the Veliki Tabor Castle Renata Dečman was in charge of designing the program and organizing the Night of Fortresses in the Veliki Tabor Castle.
All contents and entrance to the museum from 6 to 10 p.m. were free for visitors.
This year, the third edition of the Night of Fortresses event was held at about fifty monuments of cultural heritage such as fortresses, forts and castles in as many as eight European countries: Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine.
