Regional cultural and tourist event ”Night of Fortresses” held
On Friday, May 5, 2023, Veliki Tabor Castle joined the regional cultural and tourist event Night of Fortresses with an interesting and diverse program.
The event began at 6 p.m. with an educational and tactile workshop With a Sword in Hand, where senior restorer technician Andrea Brlobuš introduced participants to knightly weapons and medieval warfare. In addition to this workshop, two more educational and entertaining workshops were held. At the Memory - Museum Objects workshop, led by senior curator and manager of Veliki Tabor Castle Renata Dečman, visitors relaxed and had fun playing a board game of memory, but they also discovered what kind of objects are in the Museum's holdings. Visitors encountered Gothic art and the technique of making stained glass at the workshop The Magic of Stained Glass!, held by museum pedagogue Kristina Pavlović, after whose presentation the participants were given the task of making their own stained glass from paper. The greatest public interest was attracted by the humorous puppet show The Black Queen performed by Ioculators, in which museum employees Andrea Brlobuš, Siniša Žnidarec and Nives Ćurković, with Lovro Brlobuš, performed. Museum technician Nives Ćurković introduced visitors to museum objects, legends and stories in a costumed expert guide through the museum exhibitions. The event ended at 10 pm with a projection of the video mapping The Legend of Veronica Desinić and Living Tabor, created as part of the Living castles project.
The program of the Night of Fortresses at Veliki Tabor Castle was designed and prepared by the manager of the Castle, Renata Dečman. All content and admission to the museum from 6 pm to 10 pm were free for visitors.
This year's second edition of the Night of Fortresses event was created as part of the European FORTITUDE project, and was held at around forty locations, i.e. cultural heritage monuments such as fortresses, forts and castles, primarily from the areas of Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina - three countries included in the Interreg IPA CBC HR-BA-ME program area.
