Presented project ”Krapina Neanderthal Museum: A Time Machine for Everyone”

Krapina Neanderthal Museum

The Krapina Neanderthal Museum presented the project Krapina Neanderthal Museum: A Time Machine for Everyone, with which the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje continue to develop inclusive and accessible museum content intended for all groups of visitors.

The project is aimed at children and young people, people over 55 years of age and people with disabilities, and its main goal is to provide everyone with equal opportunities to learn about cultural heritage and actively participate in the cultural life of the community.

Special emphasis is placed on strengthening the capacity of employees of cultural institutions to provide inclusive services. To this end, during the implementation of the project, training will be organized for all employees of the institution in order to acquire new knowledge and skills necessary for quality work with different target groups and to better adapt to their interests, capabilities and needs.

The project also includes the implementation of 12 specialized educational and creative workshops dedicated to evolution, the geological past of the Earth, the life of prehistoric man and the Hušnjakovo site. Each workshop will be specially designed for a specific vulnerable group of users and will last a total of ten school hours spread over three visits. The program will include a tour of the museum exhibition and participation in creative and educational activities tailored to the needs of the participants. In order to ensure the greatest possible accessibility of the content, the Museum will provide participants with transportation and refreshments during the workshops.

The project represents another step in the efforts of the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje to make cultural content open, accessible and inclusive for all citizens, while confirming that culture belongs to everyone.

The project Krapina Neanderthal Museum: A Time Machine for Everyone is being implemented from March 24, 2026 to March 24, 2028. The project is led by the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje - Krapina Neanderthal Museum, and the total value of the project is 135,202.43 euros.

The project is fully financed by grants from the European Union from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), with the participation of the Ministry of Culture and Media as the Level 1 Intermediary Body and the Croatian Employment Service as the Level 2 Intermediary Body.
