The first ”Employee Family Days” at the Krapina Neanderthal Museum

On the occasion of the Family Days of the Krapina Neanderthal Museum employees, on Thursday and Friday, August 27th and 28th, we gathered the youngest researchers at the museum and organized two days filled with learning, play and creativity.

On the first day, the children went on a Treasure Hunt through the museum. With clues, questions and small research puzzles, they discovered the museum's stories and searched for hidden treasures. After a successful search, it was time to get creative! In the workshop, they made prints of extinct prehistoric animals on pencil cases, so everyone took home their own small, unique souvenir.

The second day was reserved for fossils and minerals. The little researchers got to know different types of fossils and discovered which animals they belonged to. They also learned how to distinguish minerals according to their properties, investigated their hardness and different colors, and through play and practical tasks, became real little geologists. Then came the most creative part – making their own geode! With the help of salt, dyes and an ordinary egg carton, colorful minerals were created that looked as if they had just arrived from some miraculous underground cave.

At the end of the two-day gathering, all participants received certificates of appreciation for participating in the first Employee Family Days at the Krapina Neanderthal Museum – as a reminder of two days of research, laughter, new knowledge and shared adventures.
