Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje

The Lijepa naša Elementary School was the host of the national geography competition, which was held from June 5 to 7, 2023. The participants in the competition were 139 competitors, 101 mentors and 23 members of the Commission. The organizers of the competition are the Education and Teacher Training Agency, the Ministry of Science and Education and the Croatian Geographical Society, with the hosts Lijepa naša Elementary School, Krapina-Zagorje County and the Municipality of Tuhelj.

On the second day of the competition, the students wrote research papers, and expert lectures were organized for the mentors at the Well Hotel of Terme Tuhelj.

Hrvatsko Zagorje, A Fairy Tale at Hand, abounds in forests, castles and manors, museums, thermal springs, churches, trails, vineyards and wine routes, delicious food, kind people, stories, legends and songs. Sanja Škrinjar, head of the Krapina-Zagorje County Tourist Board, spoke about the richness of the tourist offer in the lecture. The Baroque Veliki Tabor Castle, its stories and legends, were presented by the manager of the Veliki Tabor Castle Renata Dečman. The contents offered by the "Old Village" Museum Kumrovec were presented by the museum educator Tatjana Brlek.

The educational trails and interesting programs of the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Areas of Nature of the Krapina-Zagorje County Zagorje zeleno were presented by the director Dijana Hršak.

The mentors listened attentively to the presentations and we hope that we motivated them to visit Zagorje with their schools on field trips.
