4th ROK on Hušnjakovo - educational program of the Krapina Neanderthal Museum
With a trip to Radoboj last Saturday, the educational program of the Krapina Neanderthal Museum, ROK on Hušnjakovo, ended. The motivated children, their interested parents and two wonderful grandmothers are mainly responsible for the great atmosphere that reigned throughout the five days of socializing.
The last three days were full of different and interesting activities through which the participants got acquainted with minerals, and we paid special attention to pyrite, which we compared with other minerals and which inspired us to make perfect gold cubes. We also got to know the animals from the time of the Krapina Neanderthals, made their clay models and marked the 125th anniversary of the discovery of the Krapina prehistoric man. Of course, the inevitable part of the program that the participants particularly enjoyed was the search for fossils near Lake Dolac. The numerous found fossil shells that the children took home will remind them of our beautiful gathering for a long time to come!
As every year, our program ends with an excursion, and after Lepoglava, Vindija Cave and Veternica Cave, we took the participants of this year's ROK to Radoboj, where we visited the Radboa Museum and the Nature Center Zagorje. We got acquainted with the mineral treasures and fossils of Radoboj, vines, forest life and the Hrašćina meteorite. We would like to thank the Director of the Museum Ivana Hazulin Pospiš and the employees of the Zagorje Zeleno Public Institution Dijana Hršak and Petra Bralić for their warm hospitality and interesting professional guidance.
This year's ROK on Hušnjakovo was led by museum advisor Lorka Lončar Uvodić in cooperation with curator and pedagogue Mirjana Biljan and with the help of museum employees Stipe Komić, Eduard Vasiljević and Nevenka Vučilovski.
