Finale of the program ”On Horseback to the Museums”

Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje

The boy Andro Ivandić was one of 128 children who attended workshops in November as part of the second season of the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje program On Horseback to the Museums. His name was drawn from the box containing invitations to the closing ceremony held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the "Old Village" Museum Kumrovec, which earned him the right to the main prize of the program, which was provided this year by the Ritam s konjem Center from Stubičke Toplice. The award was presented to Andro by the Center's representative, a hippotherapist and president of the Association of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, Josip Knezić.

For the children who visited all five museums and all five different workshops, the educators of the Veliki Tabor Castle, the "Old Village" Museum Kumrovec, the Krapina Neanderthal Museum, the Antun Augustinčić Gallery and the Museum of the Peasants' Revolts prepared valuable gift packages.

Although the idea of the events, which included lighting the Advent candle, horseback riding and carriage rides, was somewhat spoiled by the rain, most of it went as planned. Various indoor workshops for children and their parents, the arrival of Saint Nicholas and Krampus, the distribution of gifts and the drawing of the main prize delighted numerous supporters of spending time with wooden and real horses.

The program was organized by educators Lorka Lončar Uvodić, Tatjana Brlek, Petra Šoltić, Mateja Harapin and Kristina Pavlović with the wholehearted help of employees from the Kumrovec Museum and the museum manager Anita Paun Gadža. Thanks to the Mario Kolman Family Farm from Tuhelj, the children rode in carriages, and Saint Nicholas and Krampus were embodied by members of the Kolovrat Ethno Association from Tuhelj.

The program On Horseback to the Museums began in November 2022, and given the excellent reactions, the second season was held this year, from October 28 to December 2, when various workshops were held during the weekend in all organizational units of the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje, all with the common theme of horses.
