Božidar Pejković: Veiled Peace

Antun Augustinčić Gallery

Božidar Pejković: Veiled Peace, Antun Augustinčić Gallery, Klanjec, 21. 9. – 21. 11. 2023, interventions on two sculptures in the permanent exhibition of the Gallery, as part of the program With Peace for Peace on the occasion of the International Day of Peace, 21 September 2023.

On Thursday, 21 September 2023, at 11:30, the exhibition Božidar Pejković: Veiled Peace will open at the Antun Augustinčić Gallery in Klanjec, which we are implementing as part of the event With Peace for Peace 2023.

As the only museum in Croatia, the Antun Augustinčić Gallery is marking the International Day of Peace on 21 September for the fourteenth year in a row. With the program With Peace for Peace, we refer to the theme of peace and to Augustinčić's monument Peace in front of the UN headquarters in New York, the sketch and plaster model of which are in the permanent exhibition of the Gallery. It is in dialogue with them that Božidar Pejković has created an artistic intervention this year that vividly registers the current state of (un)peace in the world.

Božidar Pejković was born on April 26, 1960 in Zadvarje. He attended primary school in Zadvarje and Omiš. He enrolled in the five-year School of Decorative Arts and Industrial Design in Split in 1974 and graduated in 1979 (Department of Industrial Design). At the same time, he attended the "Josip Hatze" Music School in Split (Theory Department). He studied comparative literature and art history at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb, and graduated in 1989. After a year of pedagogical experience at the Language Center in Zagreb, in 1991 he was employed as a curator at the Antun Augustinčić Gallery in Klanjec, which he has led since 1993. In addition to his basic museum and gallery work, he deals with the theory of sculpture and sculptural expression, as well as graphic design. He lives in Zagreb. He uses his articulate visual language to shape conceptual concepts into sculptural expressions. He has had solo exhibitions in Klanjec (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2012), Zagreb (2007), Bol (2011) and Split (2017), and a group exhibition in Slavonski Brod (2009).

The exhibition was realized with the funds of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, and can be viewed until November 21, 2023.
