Guest exhibition ”Wayside Crosses and Easter Customs of the Sutlan Region” in Strmol Castle in Rogatac
As part of international and inter-museum cooperation, on 17 February 2024, the exhibition "Wayside Crosses and Easter Customs of the Sutlan Region" by museum advisor and pedagogue Tatjana Brlek was opened in Strmol Castle in Rogatac. The exhibition presents crosses and chapels from the parishes of Sutlanska Poljana, Zagorska Sela and Tuhelj. In addition to the photo-documentary display of smaller religious and folk objects, the visitors were also presented sculptures by Milan Juranić made with the papier mache technique. The Easter customs of the Sutlan region are also presented in the exhibition. The display of customs begins from Ash Wednesday to the Easter holiday itself, where a part of the collection of Easter eggs of the "Old Village" Museum" is presented. During the opening of the exhibition, members of the Society "Our Children" together with Biserka Krajcar presented the creation of crepe paper flowers used to decorate crucifixes.
At the opening ceremony, the guests present were greeted by the senior advisor and manager of the "Open Air Museum Rogatec", Mrs. Nives Brezovnik and the manager of the "Old Village" Museum, Anita Paun-Gadža, who reflected on the long-term cooperation between the two museums. The author Tatjana Brlek spoke about the exhibition, and the exhibition was opened by the prefect Mr. Martin Mikolič.
The exhibition can be viewed in the Strmol Castle until 1 April 2024.
