Visiting exhibition of the Vučedol Culture Museum in the Krapina Neanderthal Museum

Today, September 6, as part of the rich program of the Kajkavian Culture Week, a guest exhibition of the Vučedol Culture Museum, Without Crafts, There Are No Tools, was opened at Hušnakovo.

This is a continuation of the beautiful and successful cooperation between the Krapina Neanderthal Museum and the Vučedol Culture Museum, so far the only two Croatian museums/sites to bear the European Heritage Label, a recognition awarded by the European Commission to sites with strong symbolic European value. After the Krapina Museum hosted a guest exhibition in Vučedol, called Krapina Prehistoric Man, and held educational workshops about Neanderthals for young Vukovar residents, the staff of the Vučedol Museum first introduced Krapina school students to the developed civilization and culture of Vučedol through interactive workshops last fall, and now through an exhibition presenting their technological achievements. The exhibition itself, which uses interesting original tools to illustrate the development of various crafts of the people of Vučedol, was presented at the opening ceremony by the authors Mirela Hutinec, director of the Vučedol Culture Museum, and Mirna Šuljug, senior curator. Numerous guests, including fifth-grade students of the August Cesarec Elementary School in Krapina, were greeted by the director of the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje, Jurica Sabol, and the deputy prefect of the Krapina-Zagorje County, Jasna Petek. The entire program was led by the director of the Krapina Neanderthal Museum, Eduard Vasiljević, and the guests were finally addressed by the national coordinator for the European Heritage Label, Anuška Deranja Crnokić, director of the Directorate for Archives, Libraries and Museums at the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, who declared the exhibition open.
