New visit of the Krapina Neanderthal Museum - Krapina Prehistoric Man at Herman Lisjak in Celje
On Wednesday, 7 February 2024, the Museum of Recent History in Celje opened the guest exhibition of the Krapina Neanderthal Museum, "Krapina Prehistoric Man", by Jurica Sabol, geologist and director of the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje. It is a traveling exhibition, which in an interesting, interactive and professional way talks about the world's most important site of Neanderthals, the importance of the Krapina collection and the osteological remains of large Pleistocene mammals. In addition to the diorama of the habitat of the Neanderthals in Krapina, a part of the scientific work of Dragutin Gorjanović-Kramberger, stone tools (artifacts), models of animals from the Neanderthal period, and an interactive corner for the youngest, who are frequent visitors of the Celje museum, were presented to the audience. This is the ninth visit of the Krapina museum with an exhibition about Krapina Neanderthals, which is enriched with new content every year. The special feature of this year's guest appearance of "Krapina Prehistoric Man at Herman Lisjak" in Celje is the new, interactive content. These are holograms of Pleistocene animals and young Neanderthals, which make this exhibition even more attractive and interesting.
This exhibition is a continuation of the beautiful collaboration between the Museum of Recent History in Celje and the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje, since 2022 when the Celje museum hosted the children's exhibition "Birthday in Herman's Lair" at Veliki Tabor Castle.
The exhibition "Krapina Prehistoric Man at Herman Lisjak" will remain open until 31 August 2024.
