Guest exhibition ”X FILES - from prehistory to tradition” opens in Kumrovec
On Thursday, September 18, at the Museum "Old Village" Kumrovec, a visiting exhibition of the Vučedol Culture Museum entitled X FILES - from prehistory to tradition was opened.
The exhibition represents a unique combination of archaeology and ethnology, revealing the connection between prehistoric Vučedol decorative motifs on ceramics and similar patterns present in the traditional Šokac costume of Baranja.
Visitors can see ceramic objects on display, such as various anthropomorphic ceramic figures, bowls, stove models, and authentic examples of women's costumes with an emphasis on back aprons and pleated skirts, which emphasizes the continuity of cultural symbols from prehistoric times to modern times.
The exhibition opening program was led by Anita Paun-Gadža, the head of the museum, and the attendees were greeted by the mayor of the Kumrovec Municipality, Robert Šplajt. The exhibition, the creation of a dialogue between the past and the present, and the traces that can be read from the title of the exhibition, were discussed by the authors Petra Nikolić and Dario Bošnjak. The exhibition was opened by the delegate of the Prefect of Krapina-Zagorje County, a councilor in the County Assembly, Ms. Snježana Romić.
The exhibition can be viewed until October 15, 2025.
