An exhibition for children ”News from Prehistory” opened at the Krapina Neanderthal Museum
The Krapina Neanderthal Museum opened the exhibition for preschool and primary school children News from Prehistory on Friday, December 1st. This is the first didactic exhibition of the Krapina Museum intended exclusively for children and, along with a tour of the permanent museum exhibition, is an ideal additional content for families with younger children who decide to visit Hušnjakovo.
In the exhibition space of the old museum building (Kneipp building), children are presented with various, interesting prehistoric topics in a picturesque and interactive way. The overall atmosphere of the exhibition awakens children's curiosity and imagination, and various didactic contents encourage children to explore with their hands, eyes and ears, but without using a screen. Thus, young visitors to the exhibition can dig up replicas of fossil skeletons in a sandbox, hold and study original minerals, interactively connect skulls with the faces of our ancestors, peek into boxes and drawers and discover various fossils. There are also dinosaur bones, impressive 3D models of a prehistoric giant dragonfly and a flying reptile, and numerous other interesting objects, and the children from the Krapina Gustav Krklec Primary School liked the reconstruction of a cave the most, where they can relax on a fur armchair and listen to the sounds of nature that surrounded the Neanderthals. The author of the exhibition is senior museum pedagogue Lorka Lončar Uvodić, who introduced the audience to the exhibition itself and the process of working on the exhibition, and the guests were also addressed by Mirjana Smičić Slovenec, head of the Administrative Department for Education, Culture, Sports and Technical Culture of the Krapina-Zagorje County. The entire program was led by the head of the Krapina Neanderthal Museum, Eduard Vasiljević, and the exhibition was officially declared open by Jurica Sabol, director of the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje. Karlo Šereg, a student of the Music School at the August Cesarec Primary School, with his mentor Stjepan Horvat, ensured a pleasant atmosphere at the opening of the exhibition.
The exhibition is accompanied by an attractive publication, News from Prehistory, created in the form of a newspaper and intended for young people and adults who come with accompanying children.
Anyone who is interesed will be able to view the exhibition, which is ideal for families or small groups of children, until May 11, 2024.
