Project Identity Card
The Museums of the Croatian Zagorje are implementing an operation entitled Preparation of Project Documentation and Implementation of Protection Measures for Oršić Castle, Samci 64, Gornja Stubica under the Call for Grants for the Implementation of Measures to Protect Cultural Heritage Damaged in the Earthquake of 22 March 2020 in the City of Zagreb, Krapina-Zagorje County and Zagreb County, financed by the European Union Solidarity Fund.
The objective of the operation is the structural renovation of Oršić Castle, including remedial works on the castle and the equipping of a museum storage facility (depot) for the storage of museum objects.
The total value of the operation is HRK 31,187,500.00, with 100% of eligible costs financed by the European Union Solidarity Fund.
The operation was implemented from 15 October 2021 to 30 June 2023.
Summary
The operation Preparation of Project Documentation and Implementation of Protection Measures for Oršić Castle, Samci 64, Gornja Stubica will restore and bring into use cultural heritage in an area affected by the earthquake. The structural renovation of Oršić Castle includes remedial works on the castle and the equipping of a museum storage facility (depot) for the storage of museum objects.
The structural renovation of Oršić Castle in Gornja Stubica will provide better protection of the cultural heritage property against future natural disasters, while enabling the Peasants' Revolt Museum to proceed with its comprehensive renovation in the following period.
Today, the Museum is a major cultural hub in the Zagorje region, organizing a wide range of events, including temporary exhibitions, educational workshops, promotional events, theatre performances, concerts and other programmes.
